Cana Rum Bar celebrated the recent holidays with Rum to the World, a fabulous cocktail party complete with a photo booth. Usually sponsored events tend to have a short and manageable drinks list but Cana bartenders were hard at work banging out an extensive list of cocktails featuring Angostura rums and bitters.
I really enjoy neo-classic rum cocktails including a Chet Baker (Angostura rum, sweet vermouth, honey, Angostura bitters). I like Cana’s version of the Sam Ross cocktail. It wasn’t too sweet.
One of my favorite classic rum cocktails is the Queen’s Park Swizzle (Angostura rum, lime, mint, simple syrup, Angostura bitters). The beautiful drink shows off the generous amount of Angostura bitters in the swizzle.
We toasted the evening with DTOs (daiquiri time outs). The mini cocktail shots are festive.
I loved that Cana gave everyone holiday gifts! The mugs included marshmallows from Zahra Bates. Her boozy Angostura 1919 Old Fashioned marshmallow was so good. And everyone loves mini Angostura bitters. I am going to have to start carrying around some — not to adjust cocktails (shhh) but more as extra flavor for food (like mac and cheese!) and stomach settler. Add some Ango with soda for the morning after to feel better.
